Five on Friday: #GimmeFive Challenge
Each Friday, we share five things that are getting buzz around the 58wang offices—from what we’re reading around the Web, to what’s hot on , or even our latest favorite ingredient.
In honor of the 5th anniversary of , First Lady Michelle Obama is challenging everyone to and set five goals for leading a healthier life. Always up for a challenge, I decided to and set five healthy goals for myself.
1. Veggies with every dinner—no excuses. Do you ever look down at your dinner plate and, in the crazy rush of getting dinner on the table, realize you totally forgot to add something green to the plate? I'm embarrassed to admit it, but that happens every once in awhile at my house. I'm challenging myself to do a better job at keeping quick, easy veggies on hand so the most important part of the dinner plate doesn't go forgotten.
2. 50 push-ups daily. The humble push-up works your arms, chest, and abs—no gym or equipment required.
4. Meal plan. When I don't plan my meals for the week and shop ahead of time, I make poor decisions (cough, Chinese takeout, cough). That's why my family is going to start using the . I'm not trying to lose weight, but I would like help planning healthy, well-balanced meals that my family will love. This may seem like a shameless plug, but I know the folks who create the recipes and the meal plans for the , so I know without a doubt that the recipes will work, be nutritionally sound, and will taste fantastic. On top of all that, having my meals and shopping lists better organized each week will work wonders on my stress levels—and that is definitely healthy.
5. Move more! Another confession: I exercised (much) more last year while I was pregnant than I do these days. Not anymore! I recently purchased a package of my favorite fitness class, the , and I'm determined to get off my butt and into class 2-3 times a week.
Alright, , I'm passing the #GimmeFive challenge on to you!
